When we asked New Zealanders what they needed to know about seafood, we discovered that people weren’t sure about which fish to choose, how to store or prepare it and how to tell if it was fresh. We also found out that a lot of people knew that New Zealand seafood is a very healthy choice and is a good source of Omega-3s....but they didn’t know why. That’s why we created The Greatest Meal on Earth website. We wanted to provide a resource that can quickly and easily answer all or any of your questions about New Zealand seafood.

Who are we?
The Council's brief is to look after the interests of a diverse and exciting industry and promote its healthy growth.
The Greatest Meal on Earth website was built by the New Zealand Seafood Industry Council Ltd. The Council is owned by and works on behalf of the New Zealand seafood industry. The industry is made up of about 2500 participating enterprises, including fishermen and aquaculturalists, and family-owned, publicly listed and joint venture seafood companies, fisheries management organisations and retailers. Its main areas of focus are in shaping policies and the industry's regulatory framework, lobbying for surety of access to fisheries, reducing tariffs, working co-operatively on fisheries management and environmental issues, and providing an avenue for funding for scientific research and value-added innovation.
